I was excited about voting today... I think Two Harbors is ready for big changes, and our country is ready for big changes. I did my homework, studying the candidates, and made my notes. I vote at the Alden Township Town Hall building down the road. I live 8 miles from Two Harbors and 24 miles from Duluth. My home is in St. Louis County, but a small portion of my land is in Lake County. Even though I live in St. Louis County, I am in the Two Harbors school district. I arrived at the polls, notes in hand, and excited about making a difference. I sat down in my booth and glanced over the voting sheet. To my dismay, because of where I live, I didn't get to vote for any of the Two Harbors candidates! I feel so cheated! The only Two Harbors item I got to vote for was the school district referendum. Totally sucks. Why does my address say Two Harbors if I am not considered a voting resident? How mixed up is that?
I was also disappointed that nobody asked to see my driver's license. The voting poll volunteers obviously didn't recognize me since they seemed surprised that I was already registered. I've only been voting there for 6 years and our township has like a handful of voters. I pushed it in front of her anyway, hoping she would get the hint for future voters. But no, no one behind me was asked for a DL either. Anybody could come in and vote several times under other peoples names.
Anyway, on to other news. I finished my German Section 1 class with an A+ on the final exam, and an A for the final grade. I am currently getting a B in Chemistry... I need to get a 92% on the exam tomorrow in order to push that grade to an A. I have no idea what I'm getting in Sociology. We had midterms last week and haven't gotten the test back yet. I got an A+ on one of my papers, and the prof likes me, so maybe that will count for something. In my interviewing/counseling class it's also too soon to tell.
I've decided to apply to the nursing program one more time next fall... if I don't get in, then I am not suppose to be a nurse. The man upstairs will have spoken. If I don't get in I will switch my major to Health Information Management... I think.
Went to the cities last weekend. Sent Jeff and Brandon to the Gopher/Indiana game without me since I had to study for Chemistry. I had a heck of a time finding a coffee shop to study in! Where are they when you need them? When you don't, they seem to be on every corner. I ended up at the one on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Got a lot of studying in, but it was so damn hot in there and there is a hair salon around the corner so it stunk like perm. But otherwise, good!
Had dinner with Ryan and Julie, the newlyweds, at an Irish place in Maple Grove. It is always so comforting to be with old familiar friends. It's like putting on an old favorite sweater. By the way, the martinis there are really good. As is the fish and chips. But don't order a full order!
I took Polar in to see the vet last week. She'll be 18 in June! Amazing! I'm thinking there might be a world record there somewhere. She had a growth on her ear that she had removed... she was so good for the vet. Of course, he is the world's best vet so of course she would be good for him. He also did a senior citizen health check on her. She is having a neurological problem with her back legs. That's why she is falling so frequently. It's a part of old age. But otherwise she is good. She sleeps a lot, tends to poop in the house on occassion (can't make it outside fast enough), and I have to carry her down the steps, but otherwise is happy and content. Every day I wonder if I'm going to come home and find her dead in her bed. That's gonna be a real sad day.
Okay, enough already! I really need to start studying for my Chemistry test tomorrow. Wish me luck for the 92% I need!
Warm wishes to you all!

It's so funny you should mention the ID thing while voting. I too had my DL out, ready to prove who I am. Low-n-behold, it wasn't even looked at. I thought the same thing as you...ANYONE can vote as many times as they wish! My 15-year old daughter voted at at school and also with me at the kiddie booth at my polling place. When she finished, I said something about her breaking the law by voting twice and she became panicked, whispering to me that the man who gave her the form was standing right next us! I actually think she thought I was serious!
What is Health Information? I worked in healthcare for 14-years and never heard of it.
Which coffeeshop on Grand did you go to? There are many to choose from -- Starbucks, the 'Bou and Dunn Dros, to name a few. I also love going to Barnes and Noble in Highland for some down time.
72 and soooo nice in the Cities today! Wish you were here!
